The Mom Writer’s Literary Magazine
Mom Writers Who Have Something To Say      June 2005

Hello Mom Writers!

Welcome to the inaugural MWLM Newsletter.  In our first issue you will find some amazing and inspiring writing by mom writers.  We are thrilled to bring you a collection of writings covering a variety of topics, including recent interviews with well known mom and author, Elizabeth Pantley and our Feature Cover Story on Christine Louise Hohlbaum, a mom writer from Germany.

The Mom Writer’s Literary Magazine features writing by mothers on the ups and downs and many challenges of motherhood.  We know that being a mom takes constant devotion and psychological work that goes on throughout your entire life. The Mom Writer’s Literary Magazine honors the fulfilling and tedious work that women do by making their stories visible through print.

We hope you enjoy our magazine.  We’d love to include writing from more mom writers like you.  If interested, see our Writer’s Guidelines on the magazine’s website to submit your writing to us. Our next issue will be available September 2005.  Please send us your thoughts and suggestions too, as our primary objective is to be an online magazine that you can’t wait to visit and share with your friends and colleagues.

Happy Reading and Writing,

Paula Schmitt, Editor

Our Feature Cover Story for MWLM
with Christine Louise Hohlbaum

Tell us about some of the ups and downs of being a Mom and a writer?

One of the biggest life transitions I had to make was moving to Germany in the midst of writing my first manuscript. After gathering up the courage to finally write seriously, I had to stop for six months while my husband looked for a new job. It ultimately meant moving to Europe with six weeks’ notice, which might not sound like a big deal, but doing anything quickly with a fifteen-month-old and a three-year-old is a very big deal indeed!

Our Profile

Visit with mom author, Elizabeth Pantley
interviewed by MWLM’s Tracy Lyn Moland

The pride on Elizabeth Pantley’s face as she talks about her children is positively inspiring. I knew I was talking to a true parenting expert when her pride as a parent shone through in all her comments and information. Being a parent can be the hardest job in the world and being a parent expert almost makes one feel the need to be perfect...

Our Guest Feature

Flying Lessons
with guest feature writer, Sharon Stock

On April 12, 2005, I went to the ER with severe abdominal pain and came home with a CT scan showing signs that ovarian cancer had returned after a year-and-a-half hiatus. What you're about to read are the thoughts and feelings I had shortly after I got that news. So, fasten your seat belt and relax while we take a faith-empowered spiritual flight departing from the Valley of the Shadow of Death. Destination: Heaven. Estimated Time of Travel: Eternity. Cost: Paid for by Jesus' death on the cross 2,000 years ago.
