My Daughter's Music
       to Samantha, Age Three
by  Pamela L. Laskin

You hear it
and you're off,
swirling in the air
with fluid quickness
like a dolphin
squealing with delight
at the rhythms
of water
I don't hear
nor can I keep up with;

so I watch
listen
to the wild dancing in and out of waves.

Pamela L. Laskin is a lecturer in the English Department at The City College. She is a published author of five picture books; two young adult novels; a poetry book; four poetry chapbooks and dozens of stories and poems. Pam lives in Brooklyn, NY, with her husband, Ira and daughter, Samantha, who is now a senior in high school. She also has a 22-year-old son, Craig, who just graduated college.
