Two Moms
by Karen Heywood

One gave you the gift of life,
the Other deals with all your strife.
One once watched your baby steps,
the Other now tries to prep
you for life and what's in store –
A job the One could do no more.

And so the Other dries your tears,
laughs with you, and quells your fears.
Teaches you what's wrong and right,
and tucks you safely in at night.
Although she'll never be the One,
she's kept you safe when day is done.
