Home by the Sea
by Samantha Gianulis

In a rustic blue and white home by the sea
Someday my honey, our kids and me
Will wake up in the morning and smile at the sun
And count our blessings one by one

We’ll enjoy breakfast long after the sun hits the sky
Sitting on the porch watching seagulls fly by
Then down on the dunes digging our toes in the sand
We’ll go marching towards the water, hand in hand

My honey pitches an umbrella for a little bit of shade
As I pour out tall, cold pink lemonades
Our kids are soon splashing and playing in the waves
On the radio, the Astros are playing the Braves

Then it’s time for a leisurely stroll along the shore
As we plan the menu for dinner, maybe a run to the store
My honey and I count the days, the weeks, the years
We’ve had some strife, but we made it here

The sweetness and the saltiness of the ocean air
Is a happy, timeless, and perfect pair
To breathe the air and watch the children play
Secrets are revealed here in a tacit way

Back to the house where we’ll have dinner outside
Clams we discovered during low tide
We play catch with the kids as the sun says good-bye
Soon the stars will shine upon us from the enchanted sky

After tea and a bath, the kids go to bed
After the favorite bedtime story is lovingly read
In cool sheets my honey and I listen to the sea
The ocean is but one place we find harmony

Tonight, tomorrow, next week or today
What matters is that we felt this way
Found in the purest form by us near the sea
The strength and happiness of our family
