The Clutter-Busting Handbook Book Review
Reviewed by Tracy Lyn Moland

“You have got to get the book The Procrastinator’s Handbook. It is amazing!” A client told me when I started my errand and concierge business. “It is simple, realistic, fun to read, and incredibly helpful.”

So I got The Procrastinator’s Handbook and fell in love with Rita Emmett’s writing and ideas. I knew I met a kindred spirit when I read her words “God created company so the house would get cleaned”. Rita put my theory into words, and I knew this was an amazing book. She since has put out The Procrastinating Child, appeared in Time, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Family Circle, Parents, and well, EVERYWHERE.

Rita’s latest book The Clutter-Busting Handbook is G.R.E.A.T.

G – “God created company so the house would get cleaned” as stated above is my favorite of Rita’s quotes. However, her advice does not mean stuff it away or hide it. The Clutter-Busting Handbook is filled with ideas on dealing with the clutter. The first time I was at my brother-in-law's house, he put all his dishes in the stove to clean up… Rita provides real advice to make sure this does not happen.

R – Realism: Rita’s book is about being real. We all deal with clutter differently. I knew a lady whose home felt very cluttered to me. To her it was perfect. I am sure my house felt bare to her. Rita acknowledges the need to be clutter free in our own way. She covers different types of clutter collectors – duplicators to caregivers. Throughout the book she provides advice to help all personalities.

E – Entertaining: Take Time to Decide, Clyde; Be a Techno-Geek, Deke; Help those in Need, Reed… Rita’s ideas and advice are fun and make you want to sing and dance. Rather than tell us what we must do, she encourages us to have fun with change. The Clutter-Busting Handbook is filled with entertaining ways to teach – from jokes to anecdotes to cartoons Rita makes clutter busting fun!

A – Acronyms: STING, SINS, SMART, and FAST are all acronyms that Rita uses to help us learn and remember her simple, yet incredibly helpful, ideas. In The Clutter-Busting Handbook Rita reminds us over and over that we are smart people who can implement a few simple ideas to make huge changes. The book is G.R.E.A.T!

T – Tools: We all have stuff, too much – physically or mentally. In a fun and helpful way Rita Emmett provides her readers with tools to solve their clutter problems.

The Clutter-Busting Handbook provides real life ideas and solutions to clutter situations. Readers can remember ideas with the use of humor and acronyms. Examples provide proof that Rita’s ideas work.

As a "Recovered Pack Rat" Rita Emmett is here for us all! With her smile and her advice we are all sure to take care of our Clutter Problems!
