GUEST REVIEW
Femail: A Comic Collision in Cyberspace Book Review
Moms of the twenty first century want to connect with other moms just as much as they did in the past. However, in this fast-paced world of moms always running to get things done, planning face-to face meetings is a bit of a challenge and connecting through cyberspace has become a popular choice. Linda Sharp and Shana McLean Moore, who met in cyberspace, use their email connection to share their everyday mom adventures with moms worldwide in Femail: A Comic Collision in Cyberspace. These two hilarious women have complied a collection of back and forth emails with complementary personal essays to present us with a glimpse into their lives as moms and their wonderful friendship which blossoms through cyberspace over a one-year span.
I connected to this book from the start because I also have several friendships with cyber buddies whom I’ve never met face-to-face but love to bits and would feel utterly lost without. So on top of relating to Sharp and Moore as a mom, I could totally understand the growing cyber bond of friendship portrayed by their exchange of emails.
Sharp and Moore present life as a busy mom with honest and witty accounts of everything a mom has to deal with. They cover such topics as PMS and hot flashes, potty-training puppies and dealing with Puppy Love, post-partum bodies, and Mommy explosions to name a few. You are guaranteed at least a smile out of every page of this book, and the chances are high that you’ll be laughing out loud through several parts.
Femail: A Comic Collision in Cyberspace is a must read for any mom. You’ll see that you’re not alone in this crazy world we live in, and you’ll learn to laugh about a lot of stuff that might at some point in your life have made you cry.
